FIt is not widely known, but H Stanley Allen was the father of photo-electricity, on which he wrote the definitive work in 1913, and as thus, was one of the first workers in the field of quantum mechanics. Notably, he was a lifelong methodist and was noted for his faith. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society.
