Now that Welsh is a fully recognised language and its users have a right to expect to be able to exercise their lives through the medium of Welsh, it seems odd that a parking company has decided to take a Mr Schiavone to court because of their own deficiencies concerning Welsh.
But that’s exactly what Sky News have reported. According to Sky, One Parking Solutions couldn’t even be bothered to put up a sign in Welsh in Llangrannog, a Welsh speaking part of Wales. As a result of the ruling the company found itself bound to translate all papers, including that of the penalty charge itself into Welsh. They didn’t turn up to court, haven’t translated the fine as directed, and are still pursuing Mr Schiavone.
